A LETTER TO THE H-R EDITOR

TO THE EDITOR:
2/9/2011AD

Recently the local state rep and yourselves supported the institution of a charter school on a junior college campus. I believe both of you are on a right track in seeking an option to the public school system.

However, I oppose your plan for two reasons. Firstly, because charter school are under the thumb of the public school system,

Secondly, I do not believe high-schoolers should be consorting with college-age students. There is much that can go awry in that sort of mixer, and it takes no great imagination to grasp what it is.

If bright students are shifted into Advance Placement (AP) classes, and the ordinary ones are sent to a charter school, what sort of students will populate the remaining high school class rooms?

The better option to the public schools is vouchers, not charter schools.
